Métis

My mother was born in Duncan, BC in 1947 and adopted.

When she was 50 years old (in 1997) she applied to see her adoption records.

I used copies of those records and the info in them, and created a small little family tree website to put the information out there, and forgot about it as the years went by.

Then in 2012, I received an email from a woman that said, I think we are cousins. She had been Google searching her grandmother’s name and found my old family tree site.

At that point, we discovered that my mother had 4 half-sisters and a half-brother. My mom’s half-sisters had done a proper genealogy trace for their mother’s heritage and discovered we are Métis.

The family history is extensive and traces all the way back to the Fur Traders that worked for Hudson Bay Company – before Canada even became a country named Canada.

On September 30th, 2023 – Canada’s newest holiday called National Day for Truth and Reconciliation I posted a series of information on my X account detailing some of my Métis family tree. This site and the list below contain much more information on the people in my family tree.
