1932 Lakewood Drive
My grandparents Walburga and John Doduk resided at 1932 Lakewood in Vancouver BC in the 1940s-1950. It is a small home, located between East 3rd and East 4th street. As of this writing (August 2024) the house is still standing and has not been torn down.
They have multiple listings at this address from 1946 to 1949 (see below) using https://bccd.vpl.ca/ which Vancouver Public Library‘s collection of digitized British Columbia city directories dates from 1860 up to and including 1955.
From my search it looks like the original house was build in Year Built 1925. It apparently has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is about 1,550 Sq. Ft.
My father and my aunt were both born while the family lived there. It is the more run down looking house in this picture. The view from the lane under the trees.
Originally – legally the family’s last name was Iszczak. In April 1950, my grandfather officially changed the family name to Doduk. They then moved to 791 West King Edward in later 1950.
